Jack's Pledge

Players Pledge

I pledge allegiance to the game of hockey, the fastest, hardest, most beautiful game in the world. Hockey is a state of extremes: extreme speed, extreme skill, extreme discipline.

Participation is a privilege extended to the toughest, the smartest, the best. As a member of this elite club, I pledge to uphold its code of honor: I play to win by being the toughest, the smartest, the best.

I play to win by following the rules. I do not play to win by any other means. I take the body to take the puck. I do not hit to hurt. I do not board. I do not cross-check. I do not check from behind. Ever.

When the whistle blows, I stop. When the puck drops, I go. You are right to fear me, because I intend to beat you--not break you. We may wear different jerseys, but we are all on the same team: Jack’s team. We are all hockey players. We all live in the same house.

We are Scorers, Grinders, Stoppers, Playmakers, Superstars. And we are Enforcers--Enforcers of Jack’s Pledge. Play safe. Play smart. Game on.

Palace & Edgcumbe Ice

All,

Flooding at Palace:  With warm weather Palace is only one of a few rinks that have ice and will get lots of use with kids off school.  So flooding this week will be important.

Sunday 1/15 - 9:00pm
Monday 1/16 -   9:00pm
Tuesday 1/17 -   9:00pm

Thursday 1/19 - 9:00pm
Friday 1/20 - 9:00pm

Flooding at Edgcumbe is also going on.  If you are interested, please contact John Stein. This ice will be flooded to get ready for use as well as the Edgcumbe Squirt Tournament on Jan 19-22.

Reminder:
Indoor ice is about $180.00 an hour.  Teams are getting 1 1/2 hours of ice at Palace for Free!!!! However, we need to help maintain it.  Edgcumbe fees are 1/2 of what other organizations charge and we do not charge volunteer fees or require volunteer hours.   We just ask that you help volunteer when needed and when you can.

Try Hockey For Free Day wrap up

CCM_Golf_Benefit_NewMore than 11,000 kids across the United States tried hockey on Saturday, November 5th, as part of Try Hockey For Free Day. The event was a cooperative effort of Minnesota Hockey, USA Hockey and the NHL. In Minnesota, 44 associations hosted an event and introduced the game to hundreds of kids who are new to the sport (including some happy kids pictured above from Osseo/Maple Grove). Thank you to all of the associations and volunteers who were part of Try Hockey For Free Day!

If you have Edgcumbe Hockey equipment, a game jersey, (or equipment to donate) please contact Larry Ryan or Edgcumbe Equipment.

Attention!!

MN Hockey would like to remind all hockey players and parents that mouth guards MUST be attached (tethered) to the helmet.
This clarifies rule 304(c) for Mouthpiece violation. The referee may issue a warning before assessing a "misconduct" penalty.

Rule 304(c) is clear that all players, including goalkeepers, are required to wear a colored (non-clear) internal mouthpiece that covers all the remaining teeth of one jaw, customarily the upper.

The American Development Model (ADM) provides age-appropriate guidelines and curriculum to hockey associations across America to help more kids play, love and excel in hockey. Brought to you by USA Hockey, in partnership with the NHL.
